MM Garden

Blending with the existing architectural style of a Mediterranean villa, the design team at quartz sought to rethink and renovate its landscape to enhance the spatial quality of the site. The inspiration was the Mediterranean villa with its pastel yellow palette, curvy arches, heavy use of colorful mosaic, and detailed motifs that had the authentic charm.

The intent was to enhance the existing design language and make it distinctive by using landscape as its strength. Planning stays contextual and emphasizes using local materials with native habitats for a sustainable design. Inspired by the Mediterranean gardens, the central open-to-sky dome with its green-capped roof acts as the perfect spot to unwind. These cascading creepers and planters enhance circular seating and fosters conversations. Its colonnaded presence makes it a focal point of the project. The circular columns are dressed in broken mosaic to accentuate the classical concept of the garden.  The green pockets allow the climbers and creepers to crawl over the building facade, creating a wall feature that has a mediterranean influence.

All the corridors and staircases lead to the beautiful natural greens and the central dome. There is a sense of symmetry in the way the programs are segregated to create designated spaces. Be it the linear paths for an evening stroll, the scenic vertical gardens for visual bliss and privacy, or the central dome with seating to relax.  The peaceful sound of flowing water, the chirping of the birds, and the picturesque vertical gardens add a sensorial experience that reminds you of the Mediterranean zen.

A cascading water feature with a backdrop of an intricate mosaic wall acts as a color-pop art element. Huge pots and vases as a vital part of the hardscape to encourage a controlled growth of species, resonating with a Mediterranean aesthetic. The use of local stone in interesting patterns nurtures an organic circulation throughout the site. The inclusivity of indigenous trees of lemons and oranges enhances the Mediterranean vibe to add hints of pop colors to the overall scheme.
